School & Educare Assistance Project

Frivillighetsarbeid med barn i Sør-Afrika

Volunteers are placed in schools in disadvantaged communities. No experience is necessary and volunteers can have the joy of watching a child learn and helping them through the process.

You will be assigned to a class and will help the teacher in their daily tasks, be it teaching, marking and sports training. After school hours volunteers will be involved in after care or after school programs in the settlements.

This project runs all year round. However, during school holidays we run the project according to our holiday program.

We currently support or run the following schools with our Educare project:

Ruthy’s Educare
Located in Dunoon township, Prudence runs the school with around 60 children aged between 1 year and 7 years. The school is located in a quiet culture-de-sac and is also the home to Prudence and her partner. She dedicated the full first level to the school. With 3 classrooms, recently refurbished spaces and a fully equipped kitchen, Ruthy’s is one of the more modern schools that SAVE works with.

Good Hope Educare
Good Hope is run by SAVE Foundation and has approximately 50 children aged between 1 and 7 years. The school is one of the few original houses in Dunoon and the main building is divided into 3 classrooms and a kitchen to prepare food for the children. The outdoor play area is limited but is closed off from the road. The school recently received a full facelift – sponsored largely by two volunteers.

Footsteps
Footsteps Educare is the smallest school that SAVE works with. It has 80 students aged between 1 years and 7 years of age. The school building is made up of 2 prefabricated classrooms with 2 additional classrooms inside the main house. Their play area is very small but the school is also in a quiet cul-de-sac that can be used with permission from the teachers/principle by prior arrangement.

Mer informasjon
